Country in the city
A unique approach to layout and colour create the ultimate country home in the city. Starting with a large 1920s home on a sprawling corner block, the intention was to remove and re organise existing spaces rather than modernize, extend or re-invent the house. The style of the interiors and the definition of space were paramount.
Rather than being predictable by 'opening up' the floor plan and compromising the character of the home, instead a verandah was added and sets of French doors that provide access through a series of interconnecting rooms rather than a large open plan layout to the huge backyard.
Now, off the busy street, behind the great bushy hedge, visitors pass through the stained glass entry into a surprisingly welcoming, peaceful family home, that offers glimpses of the lush grounds on a journey through a floor plan that offers cohesive but individual spaces and rooms.
